Plus, we’ll also run through some top tips for buying a soundbar, so you can make this important purchase with confidence.

So, make a brew, sit back, and read through our comprehensive guide of excellent soundbars for an affordable price!

Majority Snowdon II Soundbar

An extremely popular choice when it comes to the best budget soundbars under £100, is the Majority Snowdon II model. This soundbar packs a lot of punch for its price and comes equipped with many desirable features.

What stands out most about the Majority Snowdon II soundbar is the built-in subwoofer and the huge 120W output. These two factors combined will leave you with a sound-quality that won’t disappoint. Particularly the bass, which for the price of this soundbar, is extremely deep. The sound quality overall is rich, and it is certainly enhanced when compared to the TV speakers.

The connections available with the Majority Snowdon are Bluetooth, 3 5mm AUX, optical input, and RCA cable which is included with the soundbar. The RCA cable will connect the soundbar directly to your TV, so a very swift setup and you’re ready to go. As for the Bluetooth connection, it is extremely stable when in use, however, the optical input connection proves to be popular with users. This form of connection tends to give the highest quality sound and most reliable input.

Of course, the bonus of both the aux and Bluetooth connection is that you can use this soundbar to play music via multiple devices. Whether it’s your laptop, mobile, or tablet, you can stream your favourite playlists and adjust the bass and treble using the remote control.

When it comes to EQ, you can easily modify the sound mode using one of the many buttons on the remote control. Choose between music, movie, or dialogue settings and ensure you’re getting the best quality sound each time.

The Majority Snowdon II is an impressive contender for the best budget soundbar under £100, and it certainly earned a place on our list. If you’re looking for a soundbar to improve your home cinema then this is a good choice, but for music, there are potentially stronger models out there. Some users have noted that the sound delivered through this speaker is better suited to TVs and movies than it is to music. This is really only an issue if you’re buying this product to use mainly as a music speaker, but is still worth considering.

JVC TH-D227B Review – See How It Elevates TV Audio Quality

LG SK1 All-in-One Soundbar

If you’re looking for a minimalist and tidy looking soundbar, this model by LG certainly meets the criteria. An all-in-one, slim design, the LG SK1 is definitely one of the best budget soundbars for under £100.

Bluetooth is the main connection used on this soundbar. So, you can easily connect it to your TV, or any other devices you choose. Many people use their soundbar to play music through, and so you can enjoy listening to Spotify through your phone or tablet using the LG SK1.

The Bluetooth connectivity provided through this soundbar connects seamlessly, and more importantly, is completely stable. Not only that, but the LG SK1 also has Bluetooth sleep mode. This purely means that your soundbar will automatically go into sleep mode when not in use, to save energy. It will automatically wake when you play music, so no need to switch it on and off before and after use.

Also included with this soundbar is an optical cable connection, allowing you to use LG Sound Sync if you have an LG TV. This is a nice little feature if you have a compatible television and the two devices work well together providing a great picture and impressive sound.

Now, on to the sound quality. To look at this slim and compact speaker, you might assume lesser quality when it comes to audio. That is certainly not the case. In fact, the LG SK1 soundbar gives impressive sound quality for its size and price. The audio is clear and strong, even when listening at a particularly high or low volume. Of course, it is the built-in Dolby Digital technology that allows this soundbar to improve the sound quality so drastically, which for its budget price, is excellent. The bass is perhaps not as deep as some may prefer but you get what is expected from its size.

Another handy additional feature of this budget soundbar by LG is that it is Amazon Alexa compatible. So, you can play your music through the soundbar, or adjust the volume of your TV via voice control. If you’re not an Amazon Alexa user, you can easily control your soundbar using the remote control, and the setup itself is quick and simple. It’s worth noting that this soundbar has no display, but this is in no way a hindrance when it comes to usability.

In terms of size, this is a nice little soundbar, that will fit particularly well with TVs of 32-inches or more. The LG SK1 comes with a wall-mount or will lie neatly on your TV stand depending on your living room setup.

The only downside to this budget soundbar is the lack of an HDMI port. Connecting sound systems via HMDI often provides a stronger connection, however, the Bluetooth connection and optical input more than makeup for this.

For such a small soundbar, the LG SK1 is a nice piece of technology and would make a great choice on a budget. Particularly if you own an LG TV. What we really love about this soundbar is that it easily doubles as a Bluetooth speaker, so, a great buy all in all.

LG SK1D 100W Soundbar review: Is it an all-round winner in our eyes?

BOMAKER 2.0 TV Soundbar

If you’re looking for deep bass and a soundbar that will enhance the viewing experience of TV shows and movies, this BOMAKER soundbar is an excellent choice.

With a built-in subwoofer and DSP technology, even low-frequency sounds will be improved by the use of this soundbar. Not only that but with a soundbar frequency of 50KHz to 20KHz and less than 0.5% harmonic distortion. The sound quality this device gives out is crystal clear, regardless of audio source – games, TV, or music. In fact, we reckon you’ll struggle to believe this is a budget soundbar at under £100.

If that wasn’t enough, you can adjust the sound of your audio to suit your preference and needs. The bass, treble, and dialogue are all fully customisable via the remote control. Or, if you’re not very tech-friendly, use the automatic setting and the soundbar will adjust itself accordingly to suit the audio!

You can also connect to the BOMAKER soundbar using one of several connections. This includes Bluetooth, AUX cable, USB, or optical. So, if you’re looking for a soundbar that is compatible with multiple devices, this one certainly won’t disappoint.

Looks-wise, this is a sleek design, but at 37-inches it’s also quite a big piece of equipment. Although, if you have a wider screen TV – we’d say 38-inch or more – this soundbar will nestle underneath quite nicely.

Another feature we love about the BOMAKER 2.0 soundbar is that it is also compatible with other devices. This includes the Amazon Fire Stick, DVD players, and flat-panel TVs. So, there will be no restrictions on which you can set up this excellent piece of technology.

Is this the best budget soundbar for under £100? We’d say it comes close. The only downside to this model is that it lacks an HDMI port. Whether this is a downside depends on your preferred connection, but it is a nice feature to have.

Roku, Firestick or Chromecast: Which Streaming Device Is Best?

Sony HT-SF150 Soundbar

Perhaps the best budget soundbar for under £100, the Sony HT is perfectly designed to enhance all forms of audio – and it doesn’t disappoint.

In terms of sound quality, the Sony HT 2 channel soundbar has a bass reflex speaker and emulates cinema-style surround sound using virtual sound technology. In comparison to your generic TV speakers, this soundbar will really impress you. With a richer, fuller sound quality and punchy bass to boot, your movie and TV show audio will have clarity like you’ve not experienced before.

You can connect this soundbar to your TV directly using the HDMI ARC. This guarantees a seamless, and clean-cut connection, so you can relax knowing that your audio experience will be free of interruptions. Are you planning on using your soundbar to listen to music? No problem, connect any of your chosen devices via Bluetooth quickly and easily.

Of course, like most Sony products, the design of this soundbar is flawless. With a sleek, lightweight, body, and soft edges, it certainly won’t draw attention when lying on your TV stand. It is certainly an attractive design compared to other chunkier models.

This compact design by Sony really is one of the best soundbars around, and for the price, it is a bargain that can’t be missed.

Panasonic SC-HTB8EB Soundbar

The Panasonic SC-HTB8EB is perhaps the best budget soundbar for under £100 on our list. Why? Well, there are numerous reasons. All of which makes this product excellent value for money, if not vastly underpriced.

Firstly, the design of this soundbar means you get a big speaker, in a very compact design. To look at, you might not assume that this soundbar will deliver powerful audio – but with an 80W output, it definitely does. The Panasonic soundbar gives you audio with clarity, whether at high or low volume. In fact, there is a definite richness to the sound, more so than some of the other models on this list.

Secondly, the connection options on this speaker are a definite win. You can choose to use this as a Bluetooth speaker alone, for music or TV shows via mobile or tablet devices. Or, you can go the whole hog and connect it to your TV for adjustable theatre-like sound-quality.

When it comes to additional features, the Panasonic soundbar includes access to the Panasonic Music Streaming app, which is a nice touch. So, if you’re not subscribed to Spotify or any other streaming platform, you don’t have to miss out.

The design of this soundbar is, as we said, slim for the size of its speaker. So, it can be displayed on your TV stand or mounted on the wall depending on your preference. Depending on where you do place this soundbar, you can change the sound direction from 0 to 90 degrees. So you can make sure you get the full theatre experience when it comes to audio for movies.

We are extremely impressed by the Panasonic SC soundbar, particularly for the price. The functionality and features of this model leave us wondering whether this is perhaps the best budget soundbar for under £100 so far.

LG sj4 2.1 wireless soundbar review: Is the speaker worth the price?

Paiyda Soundbar

Paiyda might not be a brand as well-known as Panasonic or Sony, but don’t let that put you off. The Paiyda soundbar is a great piece of technology, and we think it might impress you more than the high-tech names on this list.

So, what makes this soundbar such a high contender for the best budget soundbar under £100? Well, to start with, this soundbar has a total of four speakers tucked away neatly in its slim design. Not only that, but these four speakers give a total output of 60W. Which, for its price (well under £100), makes this speaker well worth the money.

If that isn’t powerful enough for you, the Paiyda soundbar also has a built-in subwoofer and DSP technology. You can even adjust the range of sound using the equalizer feature, to customise and enhance the audio depending on whether you’re watching a movie or listening to music.

The result of these features combined leaves you with a deep, but not overpowering bass. At 120 decibels, you might expect tinny audio at high volumes, but we can tell you that certainly isn’t the case. The clarity of the audio is exceptional, and it is hard to believe that all this is given out through a budget soundbar.

In terms of connectivity, the Paiyda soundbar offers Bluetooth with a range of 33ft. So, if you’re using this soundbar to play music, you can comfortably move about the house with your mobile without losing the signal. If you’re connecting to the TV, you have the choice of AUX, coaxial, and optical input too. If you’re looking for the best quality sound, we recommend using the optical input if possible.

Of course, you’re not only limited to connecting this soundbar to the TV. You can connect to any device you choose, including DVD players, PCs, or game consoles. In fact, we highly recommend playing some of your favourite games using the Paiyda soundbar, for enhanced effects and atmosphere!

Last but not least, we can’t forget the mention the design of this budget soundbar. It is modern, minimalist, and extremely easy to use. The Paiyda soundbar also comes with a basic but functional remote control that is easy and simple to navigate.

As budget soundbars go, we highly recommend the Paiyda soundbar. With an attractive look and exceptional sound quality, it’s hard to find fault with a model of this caliber for such a low price.

Megacra Soundbar

Another lesser-known brand on this list, but by no means less in sound-quality, is the Megacra soundbar. This impressive model comes in at 40-inches wide and is optimised to deliver the same theatre-style audio as a full surround-sound setup.

With 4 full-range speakers, two tweeters, and 2 bass reflex tubes, the Megacra soundbar is well equipped to deliver powerful and punchy audio. Which, we can say, it certainly does. The sound quality is richer and deeper and whilst there is no built-in subwoofer unlike other models, the bass still gives that satisfying rumble when listening to both movies and music.

In terms of customisation, the Megacra soundbar gives you advanced audio options. Here you can switch between movie, music, or dialogue mode to alter the sound according to your needs. You are also able to enhance the treble and bass to match your preferences.

The connectivity options on this soundbar are both wired, and via Bluetooth. Connecting to your TV is extremely simple and can easily be done using the RCA cable provided. Alternatively, you can also use the optical input which is the best option for the highest quality audio. This model also comes with a USB port, a small, but beneficial function that in our eyes earned the Megacra soundbar additional merit.

The Bluetooth connection on this soundbar proves to be extremely stable and has a range of up to 33ft. Much like the Paiyda soundbar, this makes the Megacra a great choice of soundbar for those that are also looking for a Bluetooth speaker to play music. Perhaps the only downside on this model is the lack of a built-in subwoofer. If you’re into music with deep bass, you might find the Megacra lacking slightly on this front.

When it comes to design, the Megacra isn’t our favourite. It has a slightly chunkier look than other models on our list, particularly in comparison to Sony or Panasonic designs.

However, for sound quality, you can’t say the Megacra doesn’t deliver. With a 105db and 100W output, this is a powerful soundbar. So, if you’re simply looking to upgrade from your TV speakers, this will be a drastic improvement.

Is it the best budget soundbar for under £100? Potentially not the best, but this model still has a lot going for it in terms of sound quality and price.

The Five Best 32-Inch Smart TVs With DVD Players 2020

Sharp HT-SB140 Soundbar

If you’re looking for the best budget soundbar under £100 that supports HDMI, the options are few and far between. But the Sharp HT-SB140 is one that does offer this input – and it’s one of the many reasons we love this model.

HDMI is by no means the only way to hook up a soundbar for high-quality sound. The optical input is also another connection that will guarantee you get the best of your audio. However, the HMDI input also gives you the choice to control your soundbar using your TV remote control. This may seem like a small benefit, but it adds to that seamless home cinema experience.

The Sharp HT-SB140 soundbar also has Bluetooth connectivity. So, you can easily connect your PC, phone, or tablet and use it as a wireless speaker. Add to the list of connectivity options a 3.5mm AUX cable, plus RCA cable, and optical input, and you can pretty much connect this sound any which way you choose. A wide range of connections is always a bonus in our eyes and gives you compatibility with more of your devices.

Now, to the all-important sound quality. For a budget soundbar, the Sharp HT is a powerful model with 150W output. This gives some punchy audio, and for the price, it certainly gives out a high-resolution sound for both music and dialogue. Unfortunately, there is no built-in subwoofer, which is perhaps one of the downsides to the Sharp HT. There are also limited customisation options when it comes to advanced audio settings, only three presets for bass control are provided.

What we do like is the design of this soundbar. For a soundbar built to complement larger TV sets (think 49inch+), it has a neat and slimline look. However, the remote control is very small, and for some might be hard to navigate.

Of course, when it comes to looking for the best budget soundbar under £100, you can’t expect all the features of a top of the range soundbar. But still, in comparison to other models, the Sharp HT-SB140 does lack slightly in features and functionality.

  • 37-inch wide
  • 150W output
  • HDMI, Bluetooth, AUX, optical connections
  • Preset equalizer audio settings
  • Compatible with TV remote control via HMDI

Creative Stage Air Soundbar

If you’re looking for the best budget soundbar for a smaller TV, perhaps a kitchen or bedroom, then the Creative Stage Air soundbar is an excellent choice. Designed to be more portable than your average soundbar, this compact model is primarily for use with PCs or mobile devices. However, it is totally possible to hook this soundbar up to your TV.

At only 17-inches wide you might be inclined to think that this little soundbar will lack in terms of sound quality. In actual fact, with dual-drivers and oversized passive radiators, you are actually met with impressive bass, and high-resolution sound. So, perfect for enhancing audio when watching movies on your mobile device. And certainly more than capable of working as a portable speaker for listening to tunes.

Connectivity options on the Creative Stage Air soundbar are more limited, as would be expected for its size. You do, however, have a USB port to connect easily to PCs or laptops. Alternatively, connect wirelessly via the extremely stable Bluetooth connection, or plug straight into your TV using the 3.5mm AUX cable.

Of course, as this is a portable soundbar, it can be powered standalone by the battery. On a full charge, you can expect an impressive 6-hours battery life from this little soundbar. You can also use the Creative Stage Air wired, and plug it into a power source via USB.

Design-wise, it’s tough to criticise this soundbar, with curved edges, and discreet controls it certainly has an expensive look about it. It is also marked high for usability, as the controls are simple to navigate, and connecting via Bluetooth and AUX is extremely easy to do.

For such a small, compact, and portable speaker, we’re really impressed with the Creative Stage Air. It is certainly the best budget soundbar under £100, based on both its size and price – particularly if you are looking for an addition to your PC setup.

What is the best soundbar under £100?

As you can see, there are a lot of decent soundbars on the market for relatively small budgets. But for us, the best budget soundbar under £100, has to be the Panasonic SC-HTB8EB soundbar. This is purely due to the high-resolution sound that this 80W soundbar is able to produce. It really does give you a surround-sound feel when watching movies, and a clarity that isn’t quite achieved with other models on this list. When you consider the sound quality of this soundbar for the price, particularly when compared to high-end models, it’s hard to believe that it is considered a budget product.

Having said that, there are other models on this list that are also tough contenders. Another great soundbar under £100, is the Sony HT-SF150. This is perhaps due to the addition of the HDMI port that this soundbar offers. This feature alone guarantees higher-resolution sound, and for under £100 that is hard to fault However, despite being under the £100 budget, it is still almost double the price of the Panasonic at the time of writing. Which again, highlights the utter bargain that the Panasonic soundbar is.

The important thing to remember when you look for a budget soundbar, is to not rule out lesser-known brands. Whilst it is tempting to immediately purchase a brand you know, such as Sony, smaller brands are often selling products with more features at lower prices. So, when shopping around, don’t be afraid to look into brands such as Megacra. Their soundbars easily compete with the likes of Sony in terms of functionality and features, and are well worth a try.

How Do I Choose a Soundbar?

There are four main things to consider when you choose a soundbar, and these are size, subwoofer, connectivity, and channels. You can also look for additional features such as dialogue enhancement and equalization settings, although these are less important when shopping for a soundbar on a budget.

We’ll look at these features in more detail, so you know what it is you’re looking for when it comes to buying a soundbar.

Size

The size of the soundbar you choose will ultimately depend on the size of your TV. Generally speaking, you want your soundbar to be as wide, if not wider, than your TV.

However, the size of your soundbar shouldn’t impact the sound quality, so size is more important aesthetically, than anything else. Some people choose to buy a soundbar from the same manufacturer as their TV. This makes choosing a soundbar that suits your TV much easier but isn’t always possible if you are looking for a budget soundbar.

Subwoofer

If you want a rumbling, booming bass, then a subwoofer is definitely something to consider when choosing a soundbar. Unfortunately, most soundbars don’t have the capacity to deliver this sort of bass due to their slimline, and lightweight designs.

For those that are especially keen on a strong bass, you might find that purchasing a separate subwoofer is more beneficial. Whilst these additional speakers aren’t always cheap, when paired with a powerful soundbar, the combined audio is extremely impressive.

If you are less fussy about the quality of the bass, you can buy budget soundbars that have a subwoofer built-in. They may not be as powerful as a solo subwoofer, but they will be a vast improvement on your standard TV speaker.

Connectivity

Most soundbars – even budget models – come with Bluetooth connection, AUX, and the standard RCA.

Bluetooth is a must-have if you want to connect wirelessly to devices with Bluetooth, such as mobile devices, tablets, and PCs. This is perfect for streaming music and allows you to make the most of your speaker.

The AUX connection gives you the option to plug in any device with a 3.5mm jack, directly to the soundbar itself. Which, whilst more restrictive, rules out any unstable wireless connections that can hinder the sound quality.

The RCA connector is used to connect the soundbar directly to your TV and is the most simple way of doing so.

However, there are other connections that are even more beneficial than those above. If you can find a budget soundbar that has an HDMI ARC, we strongly suggest you do. Using an HDMI cable to connect your soundbar to your TV will provide a much clearer, and stronger connection. Which, in turn, gives you a much better quality of sound. If you’re buying a soundbar with Dolby Atmos, HDMI connectivity is the only one that will support this feature. So, there’s no point splashing out on high-resolution sound if you can’t actually make the most of it.

Unfortunately, even the best budget soundbars frequently don’t have HMDI connectivity. But if you’re looking for the best budget soundbar under £100 this is a feature to go for.

Channels

How many channels a soundbar has, refers to the number of speakers that are found within the soundbar itself. So, if you had an independent surround-sound system, you might have 5 channels (speakers), set up around the room. In a soundbar, you can have 5 channels, but they are all combined within the soundbar itself.

When it comes to looking at the number of channels a soundbar has, this is usually displayed in a number such as 2.0. This number refers to the number of channels – 2 – and the subwoofer – 0. So, 2.0 means 2 channels, but 0 subwoofers.

In terms of how many channels you want your soundbar to have, more is usually better. So, if you’re looking for the best budget soundbar for under £100, for this price range you can expect to find 2 or 3 channels in a soundbar. This might not sound like a lot in comparison to a full surround sound system. But you’d be surprised how powerful 2 or 3 channels can sound when compared to your TV speakers.

Additional Features

Some soundbars will also come with additional features, such as EQ settings and dialogue enhancement. These settings are a nice feature to have if you can get them within your budget.

Dialogue enhancement is great if you’re using your soundbar to watch movies or TV shows. You might find your TV speaker often muffles or distorts dialogue when the volume is higher, so a soundbar with this feature will remedy that.

EQ settings are a great feature if you’re using your soundbar to play music or as a Bluetooth speaker. This lets you alter the way your audio sounds, depending on where you are placing your soundbar. Factors such as whether your soundbar is wall-mounted or on a surface will impact the speaker’s sound.

Conclusion

So, as you can see, when it comes to purchasing the best budget soundbar under £100, there are plenty of models on the market to choose from. In fact, you might still find yourself spoilt for choice!

Whilst there are lots of factors to consider when choosing a soundbar, it is much easier once you know what you’re looking for. We certainly hope this article helps you choose a soundbar that blows you away in sound-quality and functionality!
