People all over the world in 2020 are experiencing a somewhat surreal existence due to the outbreak of Coronavirus. The virus has brought with it fear and sadness. But for one company, lockdown meant something extremely positive. The Houseparty app hugely increased in popularity during the pandemic reaching the top of the charts for ‘most downloaded’ app in many countries.
However, March 2020 saw Houseparty hit the headlines in relation to the app being ‘hacked’ and questions surrounded Houseparty’s security.
Although the game’s owners say they’re victims of a smear campaign, even offering a $1,000,000 bounty to anyone who can provide proof of such a campaign, many users of the app still want to delete it.
So, let’s see how to delete a Houseparty account for Samsung users.
What is the Houseparty app?
Launched in April 2019, the Houseparty app was developed by Life on Air Inc and is now owned by Epic Games.
Houseparty is described as “The face to face social network”. The face to face element is provided via video chat whether you’re using a mobile or desktop device.
Whereas a regular Facetime session allows two people to socialise, Houseparty – as the name suggests – can get everyone involved, keeping a whole social group in touch.

We are investigating indications that the recent hacking rumors were spread by a paid commercial smear campaign to harm Houseparty. We are offering a $1,000,000 bounty for the first individual to provide proof of such a campaign to bounty@houseparty.com.

Follow the steps above and send an email to Houseparty (support@houseparty.com) to get your account deleted.
Is Houseparty safe?
Security issues surrounded the Houseparty app in March 2020.
However, the owners of the app took to Twitter to deny any kind of hacking had taken place.
On March 30th 2020, they wrote on Twitter: “All Houseparty accounts are safe – the service is secure, has never been compromised, and doesn’t collect passwords for other sites.”
According to the BBC, “The consensus in the information security world is that it’s highly unlikely the app is actively breaking into people’s other accounts.”
However, it’s important to note that any app has the potential to be hacked so it’s always crucial to keep your passwords and account details safe. If you require any assistance with the Houseparty app or any other app don’t hesitate to contact Digi Helpdesk free today on 0800 433 7963.
